Job Description

Job Overview West Street Dog is a fun and unique business in the heart of downtown Raleigh, and we are looking to add new team members as we approach our busy season. Our ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about providing individualized and top quality care to the animals at our facility, and who is not hesitant to take initiative. Candidates who have experience working with dogs in a professional setting are preferred, but we are happy to train anyone who is open and eager to learn. You should be able to work both in a team and independently, with direction. Reliability and stability are a must. Before applying, please note: While loving dogs is a core job requirement, this is a physical job that involves many duties throughout the day, not just "petting dogs." Due to our business having a full-service bar in house, we can only interview candidates who are 18 years of age of older! Responsibilities ,
Duties, and Expectations:
Supervise and engage with dogs during group play to ensure safety and enjoyment. Monitor the health and behavior of all dogs in daycare, reporting any concerns to management. Maintain cleanliness of the daycare facility, including dog play areas, play equipment, and kennels. Assist with feeding, administering medications, and providing basic grooming as needed. Handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments, ensuring proper animal restraint when necessary. Be able to communicate clearly with coworkers. Be able to switch gears quickly and adjust to changes in the daily schedule. Get to know the dogs as individuals, and treat them as if they were your own. Be on time to shifts, and keep calling-out to a minimum. This is an active, fast-paced environment, so you must be able to be on your feet for hours at a time if necessary! We do have two flights of stairs in our building, so we please make sure you are able to handle going up and down the stairs multiple times a day. Candidates must be able to lift 50lbs or more! We have animals in-house 365 days a year, so you will be required to work weekends and holidays (rotating). Reliable form of transportation is a must! While working with dogs can be hard work, we have an amazing and welcoming team and some wonderful animals at our facility daily that you will develop individual relationships with. We are very flexible on schedule, and we do have opportunities for advancement!
