The Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter is committed to providing compassionate care and finding loving homes for animals in need. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Animal Care Manager to join our team and lead our efforts in ensuring the highest standards of animal care and welfare.Your Role:
As the Animal Care Manager , you will oversee the daily operations of the shelter, ensuring that all animals receive the care, attention, and medical support they need. You will lead a team of animal care staff, collaborate with volunteers, and work closely with external partners to maintain a safe and nurturing environment for our animals.Key Responsibilities:
Animal Care Oversight:
Ensure animals receive daily cleaning, feeding, watering, and medical attention. Conduct regular facility audits to maintain care standards.Staff Supervision:
Create schedules, delegate tasks, and supervise animal care staff to ensure efficient and humane operations.Medical Care Coordination:
Work with the medical team to schedule treatments, administer medications, and maintain accurate records.Operational Compliance:
Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain the ShelterLuv database for accurate record-keeping.Adoption and Outreach:
Assist with adoption events and make decisions with a team of experts regarding animal disposition/euthanasia.External Partnerships:
Serve as the primary contact for external medical facilities and ensure compliance with legal requirements.- Communicate with other shelters/rescues to examine industry trends
Team Leadership:
Train, develop, and evaluate staff, fostering a culture of compassion and professionalism.What We're Looking For:
Animal Care Expertise:
Strong knowledge of animal care standards and shelter operations.Leadership Skills:
Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse team of staff and volunteers.Organizational Skills:
Ability to manage schedules, inventory, and records efficiently.Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication for collaborating with teams and external partners.Problem-Solving:
Ability to make informed decisions in challenging situations, including animal disposition.Physical Stamina:
