In this role, you will be a vital part of ensuring the health, comfort, and well-being of the animals who rely on us every day. Your work directly impacts the lives of dogs and cats as they wait for their forever homes. Key Responsibilities Animal Care & Daily Monitoring Provide attentive daily care and observation of all shelter animals Feed animals on time and exactly as directed, carefully following diet and portion instructions Handle animals gently and confidently to ensure their safety and well-being Monitor for signs of illness or stress and promptly communicate concerns to supervisors Cleaning & Sanitation Thoroughly clean and disinfect cat cages and dog runs each day Sanitize housing areas in accordance with shelter standards and state regulations Follow the EASEL cleaning rubric consistently and accurately Perform general facility cleaning and organization, including mopping floors Clean and properly store carriers and humane traps Complete laundry tasks including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and restocking supplies Teamwork & Communication Work independently while also collaborating effectively with fellow team members and volunteers Refer community members to appropriate staff for assistance Check in with the Manager on Duty for additional tasks if cleaning responsibilities are completed before the end of a shift Perform other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor Physical Requirements Ability to lift, move, or carry animals or objects weighing up to 40 lbs. Ability to move up to 120 lbs. Capable of standing, bending, lifting, and performing physical tasks for extended periods Must follow OSHA guidelines when using strong disinfecting chemicals What We're Looking For A genuine passion for animal welfare Reliability, punctuality, and strong attention to detail Ability to follow detailed procedures without exception Comfort working in a fast-paced, physically active environment A positive attitude and willingness to support team members Work Environment This position involves exposure to cleaning chemicals, animal dander, noise from barking dogs, and varying temperatures. While the work can be physically demanding, it is deeply rewarding for those who are committed to making a difference in the lives of animals.
