Dog Grooming + Training Apprentice/Assistant

Pay rates directly relate to level of experience, level of training required, etc - see below. Responsibilities + Requirements This position is for an apprentice in shop. You can also think of this position as an assistant. You will be expected to help prep dogs for their haircuts via bathing, nail trims, ear cleaning, etc. We also provide day train services and you will be expected to work directly with these dogs to help them progress and reach handler training goals. These skills take years to master, but depending on your commitment level to learning, as your skills progress your payrate will increase. This industry can be very profitable if you take the time to learn. Dog grooming and training are labor-intensive industries. You must be able to lift and handle all breeds and sizes of dog. You will be damp 90% of the day, cleaning up pet waste, and stooping over tubs for a significant portion of you shift. Main responsibilities include but are not limited to: 1. Learning and providing all necessary dog bathing services 2. Professionally, clearly, and politely communicating with customers during drop off and pick up 3. Adhering to all safety and quality policies in shop 4. Training pets per shop standards 5. Maintaining a high level of patience during services 6. Complete readings related to dog training, behavior, and body language (will be provided) 7. Learn to develop and execute training plans 8. Monthly meetings to touch base on areas of opportunity, communicating any needs that may arise (yours or ours), addressing training pace, skill assessments, etc. Qualifications No experience required. Prior pet care experience is a huge plus and will expedite any training we have to do. The faster you are able to appropriately complete training and become more independent, the sooner pay rates increase You must be able to clearly and effectively communicate with clients and colleagues Must ENJOY communicating with clients Must be 18 years or older Must be able to reliably commute to work Pay, Perks, & Schedule This is a W-2 position. This position is separated into different pay rate tiers based on experience level. As your skills progress we will be offering raises. Grooming/bathing appointment tips are split. We also offer commission opportunities for various sales throughout the shop. 5% training class sales $10 first time day train sales 10% retail sales $25 bonus for each client you personally bring to the business $10 bonus for new dogs referred to the business from a client you serviced last You will receive 20-30% off of all retail items in shop. 20% for handmade items, 30% for chew bar items Free access to bathing area for your personal dog(s) 1 free group training session per week + 1 1/2 hour private session per month for your personal dog(s) Schedule will be 9-5 Tuesdays and Fridays.
