We are looking for an experienced, professional, and highly skilled Lead Mobile Dog Groomer to help us launch and build our grooming team the right way. This is a great opportunity for a strong groomer who wants more than just another grooming job. Our Lead Groomer will help shape our grooming standards, evaluate future groomer candidates, support training, and help create a safe, high-quality, five-star grooming experience for dogs and their families. We use fully equipped premium Mercedes-Benz grooming vans and are building a calmer, more professional alternative to the busy salon environment. As a mobile groomer, you will work one-on-one with dogs in a private grooming van at the customer's home. No crowded salon, no constant barking from kennels, no front-desk chaos, and no juggling multiple dogs at once. We handle scheduling and routing so you can focus on delivering safe, high-quality grooming and an excellent customer experience. Grooming Responsibilities Perform professional dog grooming services in our mobile grooming van Consult with pet parents about coat condition, haircut preferences, maintenance needs, matting, temperament, and safety concerns Handle dogs safely, gently, and confidently Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized grooming van Keep accurate appointment notes Communicate professionally with clients and the office Notify management of any pet health, behavior, coat, matting, or safety concerns Help create a five-star experience for every dog and pet parent Take before-and-after grooming photos when appropriate Maintain or create an individual grooming Instagram account to post grooming photos, if you do not already have one Lead Groomer Responsibilities As our Lead Mobile Groomer, you will also help Fluff and Puff build a strong grooming team and consistent service standards.
Responsibilities may include:
Help interview and evaluate future mobile groomer candidates Assist with paid working interviews and grooming skill evaluations Help determine whether candidates meet Fluff and Puff's grooming, safety, and customer service standards Help train new groomers on company procedures, grooming expectations, customer communication, van cleanliness, and documentation Help create and improve grooming quality standards Review grooming photos and provide constructive feedback when needed Advise management on grooming service times, breed handling, coat condition issues, matting policies, and safety procedures Help select or recommend grooming tools, products, shampoos, conditioners, and van supplies Act as a trusted grooming resource for management and the grooming team Help resolve grooming-related questions or quality concerns Model the professionalism, kindness, safety, and quality we expect from all Fluff and Puff groomers What We're Looking For Valid driver's license and clean driving record Clean background check 3+ years of professional dog grooming experience preferred Mobile grooming experience preferred, but not required Strong bathing, drying, brushing, clipper, scissoring, and finishing skills Ability to perform full personalized dog haircuts Experience with doodles, poodles, double-coated breeds, senior dogs, nervous dogs, and a variety of coat types Strong understanding of matting, coat condition, safe shave-down decisions, and customer communication Comfortable handling a variety of breeds, coat types, sizes, and temperaments Safety-first mindset with dogs, equipment, and driving Reliable, self-motivated, and able to manage a mobile route schedule Strong customer service and communication skills Positive attitude and willingness to help build a new company Ability to give constructive feedback to other groomers in a professional way Ability to lift and handle dogs safely and work on your feet throughout the day Social media presence preferred Why Groomers Love Mobile Grooming Work independently in your own fully equipped grooming van Calmer environment for both you and the dog Less salon noise, fewer interruptions, and no kennel chaos One-on-one appointments instead of managing several dogs at once Build real relationships with repeat clients and their pets No customer drop-off and pick-up traffic inside a busy salon Professional scheduling and routing support Opportunity to help shape and grow a new premium mobile grooming company Leadership opportunity for the right experienced groomer Compensation Includes Commission on grooming services 100% of your tips Weekly Lead Groomer stipend $500 hiring/training bonus for each new groomer you help successfully onboard Temporary ramp-up pay guarantee while we build your route Expected annual earnings for a fully booked Lead Mobile Groomer are approximately: $95,000 to $110,000+ per year , including commission, tips, and lead groomer stipend. Additional hiring/training bonuses may increase total annual earnings. Actual earnings depend on schedule, number of dogs groomed, service mix, tips, route volume, attendance, and performance. Lead Groomer Stipend In addition to grooming commission and tips, the Lead Mobile Groomer receives a weekly stipend for leadership responsibilities such as helping evaluate candidates, supporting training, advising management, helping establish grooming standards, and assisting with quality control.
Lead Groomer stipend:
$200 per week Hiring & Training Bonus Because the Lead Mobile Groomer will help us build and train our grooming team, this position is eligible for a hiring and training bonus. $500 bonus for each new groomer the Lead Mobile Groomer helps interview, evaluate, train, and successfully onboard Bonus is paid after the new groomer successfully completes 90 days of employment The Lead Mobile Groomer must be actively involved in the candidate's evaluation and/or training process Bonus applies to groomers hired for Fluff and Puff Mobile Grooming and approved by management This bonus is designed to reward the Lead Mobile Groomer for helping us build a safe, professional, high-quality grooming team. Your Pay is Guaranteed During Ramp-Up It takes time to build a fully booked mobile grooming schedule. To give you income stability while we build your route, Fluff and Puff offers a temporary ramp-up pay guarantee. For the Lead Mobile Groomer position: Guaranteed minimum of $1,300 per week for the first 12 weeks You always keep 100% of your tips You receive your Lead Groomer stipend If your earned commission plus eligible compensation is higher than the weekly guarantee, you receive the higher amount The guarantee applies while you are available for your scheduled shifts, follow company scheduling/routing procedures, and remain in good standing The guarantee is simply a safety net while your route is being built. Schedule We are hiring for a full-time Lead Mobile Groomer to work four 10-hour shifts per week . We are flexible on the exact start and end times for each shift. For this role, that means no recent accidents, no major violations, and no tickets that would prevent you from being insured to drive a company grooming van. Are you able to perform full dog haircuts, including clipper work, scissoring, blending, feet, face, sanitary trims, and finishing? Are you comfortable grooming doodles, poodles, double-coated breeds, senior dogs, and nervous dogs? Are you willing to complete a paid working interview or grooming skills evaluation as part of the hiring process? Do you have experience training, mentoring, supervising, hiring, or managing others? Are you willing and able to arrange 2-3 brief reference phone calls with past bosses, supervisors, managers, or business owners you have worked for? These calls are typically about 10 minutes each and help us better understand your work history, reliability, grooming quality, teamwork, leadership potential, and professionalism. References do not have to be from the grooming industry, but at least one grooming-related supervisor or manager is strongly preferred. Do you currently hold any grooming, pet safety, Fear Free, AKC S.A.F.E., pet CPR/First Aid, or related animal care certifications? Are you able to work four 10-hour shifts per week?
