In this role, you will lead and manage small groups of dogs, follow established training programs, and ensure the safety and well-being of all dogs in our care. The ideal candidate has experience in dog handling and training, a strong work ethic, and excellent customer service skills to effectively engage with pet owners. Responsibilities Lead and manage individual and group training sessions for dogs of various breeds, ages, and temperaments Follow and implement established training programs while adapting techniques to meet individual dog and owner needs Develop customized training plans based on each dog's progress and behavioral goals Monitor training progress and adjust methods as needed to support effective learning Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of all dogs during training and care activities Assist with general animal care tasks, including feeding, exercising, and nail trims as needed Maintain accurate records of each dog's training progress and communicate updates to pet owners Provide exceptional customer service and address client questions or concerns professionally Collaborate with and support other trainers to foster a positive, team-oriented environment Use Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, and Google Sheets for record keeping and communication Schedule & Availability Flexible availability required Monday through Friday (open hours are 7:30am - 5pm) Hours vary - but expected to be minimum 10 hours per week Schedule may change daily based on the number of dogs signed up for training and care Ability to adapt to fluctuating hours is essential Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely Pay & Compensation Starting pay: $16.30 per hour Opportunity for pay increases based on experience, performance, and training certifications Qualifications & Skills Experience in dog training with a variety of breeds is a plus; we are willing to train the right candidate Currently working toward certification (CPDT-KA, KPA, or another approved training organization required) Strong dog handling and behavior management skills Familiarity with general pet care practices, including nail trimming Experience in kennel operations or similar animal care environments is beneficial Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and animal handling
