We provide safety-first, reliable care for pets and peace of mind for the people who love them. We are looking for a proactive, highly organized, pet-loving Operations Coordinator / Assistant Manager to help keep our daily services running smoothly. This role is for someone who does not just wait to be told what to do. We need someone who notices what needs attention, communicates clearly, follows through, solves problems, and takes ownership of the details that make a service business run well. This is not a desk-only role. The right person will be comfortable supporting both the people side and the pet care side of the business. Some hands-on dog walking, pet visits, playgroup support, client communication, schedule coverage, and urgent problem-solving may be part of the role. This could be a great fit for someone with experience in pet care, dog walking, veterinary care, dog daycare, boarding, rescue, customer service, scheduling, operations, team coordination, small business support, or service-based management. About Dog Gone Walking At Dog Gone Walking, we do more than walk dogs. We help give pets the exercise, enrichment, routine, and attention they need while making life easier for busy pet parents. Our team is known for thoughtful care, clear communication, reliable service, GPS-tracked visits, detailed updates, and professionalism in clients' homes. We are building a strong, supportive team that cares deeply about doing things the right way — for pets, clients, and each other. What You'll Help With Responsibilities may include: Helping keep daily dog walking and pet care schedules running smoothly Monitoring same-day changes, urgent needs, coverage issues, and service updates Communicating with walkers, sitters, team leads, clients, and management Following up without being chased Spotting problems early and helping solve them before they become bigger issues Helping maintain accurate client, pet, and visit details in our scheduling system Supporting hiring, onboarding, training, and team accountability Assisting with client communication and follow-up Reviewing visit notes, timing, photos, and service quality for consistency Providing hands-on pet care when needed, including dog walks, pet visits, playgroup support, or urgent coverage Helping troubleshoot access issues, weather-related changes, client requests, and daily service questions Improving systems, communication, and daily operations as the company grows This Role May Be a Great Fit If You Are Proactive and comfortable taking initiative Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented Calm under pressure and able to juggle moving pieces A strong communicator who can be kind, clear, and direct Someone who follows through without needing repeated reminders Comfortable making judgment calls and asking smart questions Good at seeing what needs to be done and helping move it forward Comfortable with dogs of different sizes, personalities, and energy levels Tech-comfortable and able to use apps, scheduling systems, and written communication Professional in clients' homes and with confidential client/pet information Willing to jump in where needed, including hands-on pet care Interested in growing with a trusted local pet care company This Role Is Probably Not the Right Fit If You Prefer to wait for step-by-step instructions for everything Need a predictable desk-only job Are uncomfortable with changing schedules or daily problem-solving Do not enjoy communicating with both clients and team members Are not comfortable providing hands-on pet care when needed Struggle with follow-through, details, or proactive communication Are looking for something casual rather than a meaningful role with responsibility Requirements Applicants must: Be at least 18 years old Live within or very near the Lower Merion / Havertown service area Have a valid driver's license Have an insured, reliable vehicle Have a smartphone with reliable internet access Be comfortable driving between clients' homes Be comfortable walking dogs outdoors in varying weather Be able to bend, lift, clean up after pets, handle leashes safely, and manage active days Pass a criminal background check Provide verifiable references Be able to make a consistent commitment for at least six months or longer Required Experience / Strong Fit Background This is not an entry-level role. We are looking for someone who brings relevant experience in at least some of the areas below. Strong candidates will have experience in one or more of the following: Dog walking, pet sitting, dog daycare, boarding, veterinary, rescue, shelter, or training environments Scheduling, operations coordination, administrative support, or logistics Customer service or client communication Supporting a small team, coordinating people, or helping keep daily operations organized Small business, hospitality, service business, or other fast-moving client-service environments Leadership, training, problem-solving, or process improvement Pet care experience is strongly preferred. The right person does not need to have done this exact role before, but they should bring a strong mix of pet care understanding, organization, initiative, sound judgment, communication skills, managing a small team, follow-through, and comfort helping a small service business run smoothly. Schedule This is a part-time role with weekday daytime availability needed. Our regular business hours are generally 9 AM-4 PM , with the greatest service need during the midday window. Additional availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, or occasional urgent coverage is helpful but not required for every candidate. Compensation Compensation will be based on experience, role fit, responsibilities, and availability. Why Join Dog Gone Walking? You'll be part of a company that values: Safety-first pet care Clear communication Reliability and professionalism Thoughtful client service Team support Problem-solving Growth opportunities for the right fit Meaningful work with pets and the people who love them This is a role for someone who wants to be useful, trusted, and involved - someone who enjoys both animals and people and takes pride in helping a respected local company run smoothly.
