Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Care Associate to join our team. The Animal Care Associate is essential in providing high-quality care for a variety of animals, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being. This role provides knowledgeable care, assists customers with pet-related questions, and maintains clean, safe, and engaging habitats. This role ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal handling and care, demonstrating a commitment to the welfare of animals in our facility. The associate also supports sales by promoting products related to animal care and enhancing the customer shopping experience. Key Responsibilities Provide proper feeding, watering, and enrichment for all animals. Clean and maintain cages, tanks, and enclosures following company and state guidelines. Monitor animal health daily; report concerns to management immediately. Assist customers with questions about pet care, nutrition, and habitat needs. Educate customers on responsible pet ownership. Recommend products to support the care and well-being of pets. Follow all safety and sanitation protocols. Support inventory by restocking animal care products and reporting supply needs. Assist with animal receiving, acclimation, and quarantine procedures. Maintain sales floor presentation and contribute to a clean, welcoming environment. Qualifications Strong interest in animals and basic knowledge of pet care. Previous animal handling experience preferred but not required. Customer service skills with a friendly, helpful attitude. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods. Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed for animal care tasks Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
