Job Description

Job Summary Join our dedicated team at the San Antonio Aquarium as part of the SA Texas Wildlife Rescue department, where you will play a vital role in rescuing, caring for, and releasing wildlife. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with a diverse range of native animals, applying your animal care expertise to promote recovery and conservation. You will be responsible for providing compassionate care, ensuring proper medical treatment, and supporting the overall well-being of wildlife in need. Your efforts will directly contribute to the health of local ecosystems and the preservation of native species. Duties Restrain and handle a variety of wildlife species safely and humanely, utilizing appropriate animal restraint techniques. Administer medications, and treatments under veterinary direction to promote healing and recovery. Maintain detailed records of animal health, treatments, and progress using record-keeping protocols. Provide daily animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring animal behavior for signs of illness or distress. Intake operations by managing intake and discharge processes, answering inquiries from the public, and coordinating rescue efforts. Ensure proper handling and care of animals during transport or transfer to specialized facilities when necessary. Maintain a clean, safe environment Qualifications Previous veterinary, animal husbandry, or wildlife rehab background preferred Strong animal handling skills with knowledge of Texas native species beneficial. Ability to perform physical tasks such as animal restraint, lifting heavy enclosures or supplies, and standing for extended periods. Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and pet care best practices essential for effective rehabilitation. Excellent communication skills for interacting with team members, veterinarians, and the public. A compassionate attitude combined with attention to detail ensures high-quality animal care in a fast-paced environment. Pay:
$11.00 - $13.00 per hour
