Job Description
About Our Pup Town Our Pup Town is a new local pet care business in Rice Lake offering dog daycare, pet boarding, bath services, and a curated retail shop. We are building a unique, clean, safe, and welcoming space where animals are cared for with kindness, structure, and attention to detail. Position Summary We are looking for a dependable, cheerful, animal-loving team member to help support daily pet care, customer service, and facility operations. This is a hands-on role. Your days may include supervising dogs, helping with feeding, assisting with baths, answering phones, scheduling reservations, using our pet care software, cleaning, laundry, and helping customers. No two days are exactly alike, so we are looking for someone who is flexible, positive, willing to follow directions, and ready to jump in wherever needed. Responsibilities Care for pets in our facility Supervise dogs during daycare and boarding activities Monitor pets for safety, health, and well-being Clean kennels, play areas, bowls, floors, and common spaces Help with laundry, dishes, restocking, and sanitation Refill water bowls and assist with feeding Assist with baths Help with check-ins, check-outs, phone calls, and customer service Use our pet care software after training Assist with scheduling reservations and taking messages Support daily operations as needed What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is dependable, cheerful, comfortable around dogs of all sizes, and genuinely enjoys helping people. This role includes plenty of cleaning, so we're looking for someone who understands that the less glamorous parts of animal care are still an important part of keeping pets safe and comfortable. Animal care experience is a plus, but reliability, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, ability to follow directions, and excellent customer service matter even more. Our team works hard, helps each other, and keeps a sense of humor when the day gets a little loud, messy, or unexpected. Schedule This is a flexible, part-time position with variable hours. Because we are a new pet care business, hours will depend on reservations, staffing needs, and daily schedules. Weekly hours may vary, especially as we are getting started, so this role is best for someone looking for supplemental income and flexibility rather than a set schedule. We are looking for someone with flexible availability, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and some holidays. We anticipate the position starting at approximately 5-15 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours as the business grows. Requirements Must be at least 18 years old Comfortable working around dogs of various breeds and sizes Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, and lift Able to lift up to 40 pounds, with assistance for heavier items or dogs Comfortable working around barking, pet hair, cleaning products, and animal waste Comfortable learning basic computer software Reliable transportation Dependable attendance and punctuality Preferred Experience Preferred but not required: Experience caring for personal pets Previous animal care, farm, cleaning, food service, retail, or customer service experience
