JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Overview DEN Urban Dog Retreat is a structured dog wellness campus in Los Angeles, focused on behavior, balance, and real-world socialization — not traditional daycare. We are looking for an experienced Dog Trainer & Pack Hike Leader who understands pack dynamics, structure, and how to guide dogs in both controlled and natural environments.
This role combines:
Hands-on training Structured pack hikes Behavior work inside our daycare environment If you're someone who naturally takes leadership with dogs, reads energy well, and wants to grow within a serious dog program — this is for you. What You'll Be Doing Leading structured pack hikes in nature (groups of balanced dogs) Reinforcing leash work, recall, and social behavior Working with dogs inside our daycare program to improve balance and structure Identifying behavioral patterns and communicating with team + clients Assisting with training sessions (private + enrichment-based) Maintaining safety, control, and calm pack energy at all times Who This Is For Trainers who believe in structure, leadership, and consistency People who are comfortable handling multiple dogs at once Individuals who can stay calm, assertive, and aware under pressure Those who understand that dog behavior is built through repetition and routine Requirements Prior dog handling or training experience
REQUIRED
Strong leash handling skills (multiple dogs) Comfortable leading pack hikes Understanding of dog behavior, body language, and socialization Reliable transportation (huge plus if you can assist with dog transport) Physically active and able to hike daily Team-oriented with strong communication skills Compensation $25 + hour depending on experience Additional earning potential through training sessions Growth opportunity into higher-level training roles Why DEN Structured environment (not chaotic daycare) Real training application — not just supervision Strong community + consistent clientele Opportunity to grow into leadership and specialized roles Work with one of LA's most established dog packs
