Citizen Canine's mission is to support Bay Area dog owners by providing a high quality, stress-free dog care service. Our programs are structured around a deep understanding of dogs' physical, mental and social needs. The position of enrichment dog handler is responsible for overseeing the immediate health and care of our canine guests. An ideal candidate would be a genuine dog lover, pay excellent attention to detail and have strong communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Basic Dog Handling in/out of rooms Using only positive reinforcement when handling all dogs Monitoring and recording Social Behavior exhibited in group play, on-leash, and in room Proper use of handling techniques to deal with issues Participate in the implementation of puppy socialization, basic training, and enrichment programs using positive reinforcement methods. Offer enrichment activities to doggie guests that are not eligible or prefer not to participate in group play. Keep detailed training records. Maintain responsibility for all enrichment dog needs. Manage dogs of all breeds, sizes and temperaments. Reporting all health and behavior issues to supervisors and/or managers Be comfortable with all the glamorous stuff associated with caring for dogs- scooping poop, cleaning up vomit, diarrhea, doggy breath etc. Able to work effectively with a team or independently. Be punctual, and reliable. Assist with other dog handling duties as needed. Flexible availability to work early mornings, afternoons, or early evenings is very desirable. Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively and efficiently regarding inventory needs Completing required documents on human or dog incidents that occur (when applicable) Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude in the workplace Being punctual and reliable for each shift Assisting with deep cleaning tasks when needed Assist canine handling supervisor and canine operations supervisor as needed Education/Experience Must be at least 18 years of age High School Diploma or equivalent At least 1-year experience with dog enrichment within the last 3 years Strong written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of canine behavior and body language preferred Experience in dog handling and management of large groups of dogs Organized record keeping and detailed reporting skills Self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude Willingness to roll up their sleeves and get dirty! Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds Computer literacy (Word, Excel, email, etc.) Work Environment:

Qualified candidates may be asked to demonstrate basic knowledge and use of positive reinforcement-based training techniques during the interview process, as well participate in a group or panel-based interviews This is a part-time position, paid hourly with opportunity to move into full-time.
