Pet Care Associate Pasadena, CA 91107 From $20 an hour - Part-time From $20 an hour - Part-time Overview Planet Doggy is looking for an experienced, dependable, and professional Dog Daycare Attendant to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced structured daycare and boarding environment that requires confidence handling dogs of all sizes, strong awareness of dog behavior, and the ability to work independently under pressure. We are seeking team members who are proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about providing safe, structured, high-quality care. Prior professional dog handling experience is strongly preferred. This position includes cross-training in daycare, boarding, bathing, cleaning, customer service, and daily operations. As we continue preparing for our Monrovia expansion, we are looking for individuals interested in long-term growth within the pet care industry. Duties & Responsibilities Ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of all dogs in our care Supervise structured group play and monitor dog behavior closely Read and understand dog body language, temperament, and play styles Safely interrupt, redirect, and manage overstimulation or inappropriate behavior Clean kennels, play areas, dog beds, crates, bowls, and common areas throughout the day Feed, monitor, and care for daycare and boarding dogs Assist with baths and grooming services including brush-outs, drying, nail trims, and ear cleaning Communicate professionally and confidently with pet guardians Take photos and videos of dogs for social media and client updates Follow all safety, sanitation, and handling protocols Perform additional duties as assigned by management Schedule Expectations This position follows a split-shift schedule, with work periods divided by an extended mid-day break. Weekend and holiday availability is required. Team members participate in a rotating weekend schedule to support consistent care for our dogs. Hours may increase based on reliability, performance, leadership, and the ability to work independently. Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older Must live locally and have reliable transportation Prior professional experience in dog daycare, boarding, grooming, training, shelter, or veterinary environments strongly preferred Comfortable handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, temperaments, and energy levels Ability to confidently manage large group play environments Strong understanding of dog behavior and body language preferred Excellent customer service and communication skills Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced environments Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Physically capable of standing, walking, cleaning, lifting, and handling physical tasks throughout the day Professional appearance and willingness to follow company dress code standards Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is observant, proactive, dependable, and takes pride in their work.
