This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in animal handling, training techniques, and pet care within a supportive environment. You will work closely with experienced trainers and veterinary professionals to promote well-behaved, happy, and healthy dogs through engaging training sessions and compassionate care. Responsibilities Assist lead dog trainers in implementing training programs tailored to individual dogs' needs, focusing on obedience, socialization, and behavioral modification Support the safe handling and restraint of dogs during training sessions and veterinary procedures using proper animal restraint techniques Help monitor and document each dog's progress, noting behavioral changes and training outcomes accurately Maintain a clean, safe, and organized training environment by following proper sanitation and aseptic techniques Participate in pet care activities such as feeding, medication administration, and basic grooming under supervision Support veterinary team members with animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning kennels, and ensuring overall animal well-being Engage with pet owners by providing guidance on training exercises and pet care routines to reinforce positive behaviors at home Skills Prior kennel experience or animal care background preferred; familiarity with animal husbandry practices is a plus Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and laboratory procedures enhances your ability to support veterinary teams effectively Experience with pet care tasks such as medication administration, animal restraint, catheterization, and handling diverse breeds including dogs and equines Strong understanding of animal behavior principles related to dog handling and training techniques Excellent communication skills for collaborating with trainers, veterinary staff, pet owners, and team members Ability to follow aseptic techniques during procedures to ensure animal safety and health standards are maintained Demonstrated commitment to animal welfare through compassionate handling and attentive care practices This role is ideal for motivated individuals eager to grow their expertise in canine training while supporting the health and happiness of animals.
