Kennel Technician / Training Apprentice Job Description Hunter Canine Dog Training is hiring a part-time Kennel Technician / Training Apprentice to join our fast-growing team in Newport/Wilmington, Delaware. This is an incredible opportunity for someone who is passionate about dogs and interested in building a long-term career in the dog training industry. This role is perfect for someone who wants hands-on experience working with dogs daily while learning directly from one of the top dog training teams in the tri-state area.
Responsibilities:
Cleaning kennels, crates, and training areas Assisting with daily dog care and kennel operations Supervising and safely handling dogs Assisting trainers with training sessions and exercises Feeding, potty rotations, and monitoring dog health/behavior Helping with enrichment activities and structured play Maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment Learning dog behavior, handling skills, and training fundamentals Supporting Day Camp and Board & Train operations
Requirements:
Prior dog handling or dog training experience preferred Strong work ethic and ability to work in fast-paced environments Comfortable handling large, energetic, and occasionally reactive dogs Reliable transportation Positive attitude and willingness to learn Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to stand, walk, clean, and handle dogs for extended periods

We are looking for an experienced and motivated dog trainer who is passionate about producing life-changing results for dogs and their owners. Our Day Camp program is one of the most successful programs in the area and focuses on obedience, socialization, confidence building, manners, neutrality, and real-world behavior transformation.
Responsibilities:
Leading structured Day Camp training sessions Working with dogs on obedience, manners, neutrality, and socialization Safely handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments Conducting structured play and supervised socialization Creating positive experiences while maintaining accountability and structure Communicating with clients during pickup/go-home lessons Providing educational updates and progress reports Maintaining training standards and safety protocols Supporting Board & Train dogs and facility operations as needed Representing Hunter Canine professionally both in person and online
Requirements:
Professional dog training experience preferred Strong understanding of dog behavior and handling Experience with balanced training methods preferred Comfortable working with reactive, fearful, and high-drive dogs Excellent communication and client interaction skills Team-oriented mindset with strong leadership qualities Reliable transportation and strong punctuality Ability to work in physically demanding environments
