Full Job Description Dog Handler/Group Specialist Pay:
$14-$14.50
Available Schedule:
7 am to 3 pm Friday to Tuesday Our team members must be available to work during our peak times and on holidays.
Description:
We're looking for and experienced, reliable, dog-savvy, and energetic handlers to help watch over our pack! A handler's goal is to prioritize the health and safety of the dogs, while creating a fun and enriching play time. You will be responsible for supervising group play, chatting with parents about their pup's behavior, and using positive reinforcement methods to ensure each dog enjoys a stress-free environment.
Daily tasks would include:
Supervising multiple play groups of dogs ranging from toy to extra large sizes Ensure safe and positive interactions among dogs while using positive reinforcement methods Monitor and administer timeouts, keeping accurate records of their frequency and duration Learn the names, faces, and behaviors of each dog Communicate with pet parents about their pup's behaviors Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in your designated play yard Ensure dogs have access to clean and cool water at all times Support your team by helping them with any cleaning tasks such as sanitizing kennel areas, cleaning common areas, and filling water bowls during play breaks. Recognizing and reporting potential medical emergencies such as overheating, injuries, or illnesses Regularly responding to communications on radio Train/coach team members dog handling skills Working with dogs in your group with recall and gate control Keeping dogs engaged with enrichment Training sessions and enrichment sessions Our ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics: A love for animals Active listening Patience Advanced understanding of a dog's body language Ability to be outside during cold and hot seasons for up to 6 hours a day Time management Detail-oriented Able to be active for 8 hours a day Able to multi-task Works well in a fast-paced environment Quickly learns and grasps new tasks and concepts Highly dependable Team player Takes direction Excellent communication Dependable transportation and attendance Benefits of employment at
