Volunteer Manager

We're looking for someone who can build relationships, stay organized, and create a positive, welcoming experience for everyone who wants to help. What You'll Be Doing Recruiting, interviewing, and welcoming new volunteers Matching volunteers with roles that fit their skills and interests Scheduling and coordinating volunteers for daily operations, events, and special projects Leading volunteer orientations and trainings so everyone feels confident and prepared Being the go-to person for volunteers—answering questions, offering support, and building relationships Tracking volunteer hours, records, and program data Supporting staff who work with volunteers and helping set everyone up for success Keeping volunteers engaged, appreciated, and excited to come back Creating and updating volunteer materials (handbooks, trainings, policies, etc.) Looking for ways to improve the volunteer program and bring in fresh ideas Helping ensure volunteer roles are safe and well-managed Schedule Flexible schedule required, including some evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays Hours may vary depending on events and shelter needs Pay Starting at $35,000 annually , with the opportunity for higher compensation based on experience and/or credentials What We're Looking For Experience in animal welfare is a plus Previous nonprofit or volunteer coordination experience strongly preferred Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Someone who genuinely cares about animals and our mission The Right Fit Will Be… A strong communicator who can connect with a wide range of people Friendly, approachable, and positive Organized and detail-oriented (there are a lot of moving parts!) Comfortable taking initiative and solving problems A team player who can also work independently Confident leading trainings or speaking to groups Professional and able to handle sensitive situations with care Experienced (or willing to learn) safe and humane handling of cats and dogs Why This Role Matters This position plays a huge role in keeping our shelter running.
