  • Norwich Lake is seeking a compassionate and reliable Horse Wrangler's Assistant to support our equine program in a Christ-centered, outdoor environment.
This part-time role is perfect for someone with hands-on horse experience, a commitment to safety, and a heart for service. The ideal candidate will assist with daily horse care and help facilitate pony ride experiences for children and families visiting our retreat center. Duties/Responsibilities Assist guests on and off horses during pony rides Lead horses safely using reins and harnesses Monitor rider safety and offer basic guidance Groom, feed, and handle horses daily Clean stalls, paddocks, and barns (including mucking and sweeping) Sanitize tack, grooming supplies, and equipment Observe and report any changes in horse behavior or health Ensure safety protocols are followed for both guests and horses Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment Attend team meetings as needed Perform additional horse-related tasks assigned by the supervisor Requirements At least 18 years old Minimum 2 years of horse care and horseback riding experience Reliable, safety-conscious, and self-motivated Friendly and able to interact well with children and families Comfortable working independently and as part of a team Must live locally or within a commutable distance to Huntington, MA Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while handling horses Able to lift up to 50 lbs (e.g., feed, tack, supplies) Work outdoors in all weather conditions Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) SORI (Sex Offender Registry Information) Drug testing
