Prairie Dog is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team! As a Dog Handler, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our furry guests throughout their stay at our facility. If you love dogs and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities:
Supervise dogs during playtime, ensuring safe and positive interactions. Provide compassionate care and attention to dogs staying at our facility. Monitor dog behavior and intervene as needed to prevent conflicts or unsafe situations. Provide basic care for dogs, including feeding, administering medications (if required), cleaning up messes, and providing plenty of love and attention. Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates on their dog's behavior and activities. Monitor dogs for any signs of distress, illness, or behavioral issues. Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization standards in common spaces. Engage dogs in playtime and socialization activities, including group play and one-on-one play. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of both dogs and staff. Assist with administrative tasks such as customer service and front of house operations.
Qualifications:
Passion for working with dogs and providing them with exceptional care. Previous experience working with dogs in a daycare, kennel, veterinary clinic, shelter, or similar environment is preferred but not required. Knowledge of pet CPR and first aid is preferred but not required. Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments with patience and confidence. Strong observational skills to monitor dog behavior and identify potential issues. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both dogs and humans. Ability to work effectively as part of a team or individually in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to work flexible hours ranging from: Monday-Friday 6am-7pm, Saturday 7am-6pm, and Sunday 7am-11am & 2pm-6pm (weekends and holidays required). Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform tasks that require bending and standing for extended periods.
