We are a locally owned and operated Pet Supplies Plus right here in the neighborhood — and we're looking for an enthusiastic animal lover to join our Groomer Training Program! No prior grooming experience is required — we will train you from the ground up through the nationally recognized Paragon Grooming Academy . During training, you'll be paid an hourly wage while you develop your skills. Once you become a certified groomer , you'll transition to 50% commission , with the opportunity to increase to 55% commission after two years of service . We also have bonuses for hitting grooming milestones every two weeks. That means your income grows with your skills and productivity . This position can be full-time or part-time (minimum of 24 hours per week ). After training is complete, the role requires evening and weekend availability , as these are our busiest grooming times and offer the highest earning potential for groomers. Training Timeline We'll invest in you through our structured training program, supported by our wonderful grooming team that's already in place: Week 1
- Orientation & Onboarding at your home store 5 Weeks
- Level 1 Training (bathing, drying, nails, ears, brushing, safe handling) 4 Weeks
- Practice period in the salon 10 Weeks
- Level 2 Training (full grooms, breed-specific styles, clipper/scissor skills) Certification
- Graduate as a Certified Groomer and start your grooming career with us From start to finish, training takes about 20 weeks , combining online coursework, hands-on practice, and one-on-one mentoring.
Once Certified, You'll:
Groom and style pets to breed standards or owner requests Ensure the safety and well-being of every pet in your care Build relationships with pet parents and recommend helpful products/services Actively grow your grooming business by engaging with neighbors in the store and building relationships with repeat clients Promote your grooming services through personal networks, word-of-mouth, and social media to help build your schedule and clientele Keep the grooming area clean, safe, and welcoming Support the store team when grooming appointments aren't scheduled What We're Looking For Passion for working with pets and people Willingness to learn and complete all training requirements Flexibility to work evenings and weekends (full-time) Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods At least 18 years old with reliable transportation Why You'll Love It Paid training + 50% commission after certification, increasing to 55% after two years of service, with additional bonuses evailable each pay period outstanding performance A proven path to a long-term grooming career Tools, books, and smocks provided during training A supportive, fun, and skilled grooming team to learn alongside
