Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Dog Trainer to take a lead role in delivering professional, results-driven training services at our resort. This position is ideal for a confident trainer with hands-on experience who can execute approved training programs, guide clients through behavior challenges, and mentor other team members. The role combines advanced training skills, strong client communication, and collaboration with leadership to support operational and revenue goals. Key Responsibilities Deliver customized dog training through private lessons, day training, and board-and-train programs using approved tools and methodologies Plan, lead, and manage group training classes for pet parents Conduct in-depth client orientations and behavior consultations to recommend appropriate training programs Partner with resort leadership to support training revenue, utilization, and occupancy goals Mentor and support newer dog trainers through hands-on coaching and guidance on company standards, policies, and procedures Provide cross-departmental training on safe handling, enrichment, and basic obedience practices Maintain a clean, organized, and safe training environment that prioritizes the physical and emotional well-being of all dogs Accurately document training progress, behavior notes, and client communications in company systems Support marketing efforts, including participating in events and capturing photos or videos as assigned Identify and escalate behavioral or care concerns to leadership promptly Perform additional duties as assigned Required Qualifications Previous professional dog training experience required (private training, group classes, day training, or board-and-train) Strong understanding of canine behavior, learning theory, and safe handling practices Proven ability to communicate training concepts clearly to clients and staff Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and phone communication skills Highly organized with strong attention to detail in documentation and client follow-up Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-dog environment Experience with, or ability to quickly learn, reservation and POS systems Reliable, flexible, and available to work weekends and holidays Physical ability to stand for extended periods; walk, kneel, crouch; and lift up to 50 lbs Ability to observe and respond appropriately to dog behavior, movement, and vocalizations to ensure safety, with or without reasonable accommodation Preferred (Not Required) Professional dog training certifications (CPDT-KA, KPA, IAABC, or similar) Experience mentoring or leading other trainers Background in resort, daycare, boarding, or multi-dog environments Why Join Us Opportunity to work in a professional, established training program Leadership involvement and the ability to influence training standards A collaborative, pet-focused workplace where your expertise is valued If you are an experienced dog trainer looking for a role where your skills, leadership, and passion for dogs can make a real impact, we encourage you to apply.
