Job Description

Overview Domestic Dog Training is looking for a reliable, hard-working Dog Trainer Assistant to help care for dogs in our structured training-based facility. This is not a sit-around-and-play-with-dogs job. You'll be doing real, hands-on work—feeding, cleaning, walking, supervising, and helping with basic training sessions alongside our professional trainers. It's a fast-paced but rewarding job for someone who wants to learn the ropes and grow in the dog training field. Responsibilities Clean kennels, feed dogs, administer medications, and ensure a safe, sanitary environment Rotate dogs outside for potty breaks, walks, and structured exercise Handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments safely and confidently Assist with basic obedience and behavior training sessions under trainer supervision Learn leash handling, timing, and how to support structured routines Monitor dog behavior and report any changes or concerns Keep accurate daily notes and follow care instructions Maintain a calm, professional demeanor around high-energy dogs Requirements Prior experience in animal care (kennel, daycare, grooming, shelter, etc.) is preferred Comfortable handling large, strong, or reactive dogs Able to lift 50+ lbs, work on your feet for long periods, and handle outdoor weather Open to learning training methods and handling techniques Detail-oriented and consistent with routines and instructions No fear of hard work, dirt, or dog poop Bonus if you've worked in boarding, training, or dog sports—but not required What You Get Hands-on experience at a working training facility Mentorship from experienced professional trainers Clear path to grow into a training role for the right candidate Meaningful work that helps dogs live better lives
