Job Description

Kennel Assistant Hudson Valley Dog Farm, Taghkanic, NY Hudson Valley Dog Farm is a limited-capacity boarding and board-and-train facility where we care for a small number of dogs in a safe, structured, and personalized environment. We are looking for a dependable, hard-working Kennel Assistant who genuinely enjoys working with dogs and understands that excellent dog care requires much more than simply playing with dogs. Our canine clients include traditional boarders, dogs and puppies of all ages working on manners training, adult dogs working on reactivity issues, sport dog prospects working on foundation training and everything in between. The Kennel Assistant will help provide daily exercise and enrichment for boarding and training dogs, as well as cleaning and food preparation. The ability to work respectfully and pleasantly with attention to detail is a must. Responsibilities Cleaning kennels, play areas, and common spaces Feeding and watering dogs Monitoring dogs for health, safety, and behavior concerns Supervising play groups alongside experienced staff Assisting with daily care routines Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment Following established procedures and safety protocols Collaborating with other team members to provide the best possible experience for the dogs in our care Contributing to a work environment that fosters pride in your work, commitment to the animals in our care and a positive and supportive work environment Assisting with facility maintenance and other physical tasks as needed
Qualifications:
The right candidate is: Reliable and consistently on time with a valid drivers license Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds and being on their feet for extended periods Not afraid of hard work, cleaning, or getting dirty Observant and able to notice when something isn't right Calm, patient, and respectful with both dogs and people Able to follow directions and work independently Comfortable handling friendly dogs of various sizes and breeds Safety-minded with good judgment and common sense
