Dog Trainer 1011 Grand Blvd, Deer Park, NY 11729 From $52,000 a year - Full-time From $52,000 a year - Full-time About Us Maximum Canine is a full-service dog training, behavior, fitness, and nutrition center located in Deer Park, NY. We are an established and rapidly growing training facility focused on building a strong community of dog owners and delivering real results. With continued expansion and plans for multiple locations, we offer significant opportunities for career growth within dog training, leadership, and management roles. Position Overview Maximum Canine is seeking an experienced dog trainer who can step in and contribute at a high level from day one. This is not an entry-level role—we are looking for someone with real, hands-on experience working full-time in dog training environments. This position is ideal for a trainer who has worked with a wide range of dogs and behavioral issues and is confident in their ability to apply multiple training methods. The right candidate will also play a key role in guiding, collaborating with, and supporting team members while working closely with existing management. There is strong potential for growth into lead trainer and management positions as the company continues to expand. Responsibilities Work hands-on with dogs in board & train, boarding, and structured programs Conduct private lessons and group classes (in-facility and in-home) Apply effective training methods based on each individual dog Communicate clearly and professionally with clients Maintain the health, safety, and structure of dogs in your care Support team development through leadership, collaboration, and guidance Assist with daily operations and help maintain a high standard of training across the facility Qualifications Minimum 2+ years of full-time, professional dog training experience Must have experience working directly with clients, not just handling dogs Strong background in: Private one-on-one training Group classes Board & train programs Experience with a wide range of behavioral issues (reactivity, aggression, anxiety, etc.) Understanding and the ability to apply multiple training methods Highly Preferred (but not required): Certifications in dog training Background in dog sports, working dogs, or service dogs Work Environment This role requires working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Nights, weekends, and holidays may be required based on client demand. Travel may also be required. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift and carry up to 90 lbs and perform all physical aspects of dog training in various environments. Schedule Mornings, evenings, and at least one weekend day per week required.
