Job Description

Job Description:
We are looking for a full time dog trainer to join our team. We want someone who is passionate about dogs and wants to build on their current training knowledge. The dog trainer is responsible for walking, training and overseeing socialization amongst the dogs both during daycare and training.
About Us:
Grateful Pups is a locally owned and operated dog training facility. We focus on the dog's state of mind, rather than just obedience. We train in a home environment with outings to local stores, walking locations, fields, and restaurants. This focus provides more freedom for the dogs as they understand how to behave both inside and outside the home. Right now, it is a 1 - 2 person operation and we are looking to mentor and expand our team.
Responsibilities:
Train dogs both at the facility and in public settings based on the dog training program set forth for each dog Continue to improve training skills and knowledge. Practicing safe training practices to ensure client, dog, personal and public safety - safety is always the number one concern and priority and when in doubt error on the side of safety. Assist with daycare and boarding Maintaining a clean and safe environment both inside and in the yards All other duties deemed necessary to provide safe, happy, confident, obedient dogs in a safe and productive working environment. Supervising dog interaction, focusing on safety and advocacy for each dog Transporting dogs around town and to and from their cages Administering food, water and applicable medications to the dogs
Requirements:
At least 21 years old with valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record Minimum 1 year training dogs. If this is not on your resume, include a description in the answer (Resume's without dog training experience will not be considered) Passion for working with dogs and willingness to expand dog training knowledge Knowledge of dog behavior and understanding of dog body language Ability to handle and work with dogs needing behavior modification from anxiety to aggression. Capable and comfortable with using all types of training tools Video skills for training days with head trainer a plus Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and walk 7 miles in a day (in all types of weather)
Pay:
$19.00 - $25.00 per hour
