Job Description

Job Summary Join our dedicated team as an Animal Adoption Counselor, where you will play a vital role in connecting loving animals with caring families. This energetic position involves guiding prospective adopters through the adoption process, providing pet care advice, and ensuring each animal finds a safe and suitable forever home. Your enthusiasm for animal welfare and exceptional customer service skills will help create positive experiences for both animals and adopters alike. Responsibilities Assist prospective adopters by providing detailed information about available animals, their needs, and suitability for different households Conduct animal handling and restraint to ensure safe interactions during visits and adoption procedures Educate visitors on pet care, including grooming, feeding, training, and health maintenance Support the veterinary team with basic animal care tasks, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring health status Facilitate dog training sessions or behavioral assessments to ensure animals are well-prepared for new homes Maintain accurate records of animal interactions, adoption applications, and follow-up communications Promote responsible pet ownership through community outreach and educational programs Requirements Experience in dog handling, pet grooming, or pet sitting is highly desirable Background in veterinary technician or assistant roles, with veterinary experience preferred Knowledge of animal restraint techniques and animal handling best practices Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with kennel cleaning or transport of animals Strong customer service skills to engage with diverse visitors and answer questions confidently Familiarity with equine or other animal handling is a plus but not required Passion for animal welfare combined with excellent communication skills to inspire responsible pet ownership This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to contribute to animal rescue efforts while developing their skills in pet care, training, and community engagement. $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
