Position:
At Dane Park Fidus Communities, we are a growing group of communities that provide premier pet services for our residents. We're looking to fill a long-term position as a Daycare Yard Attendant/Dog Trainer , reporting to upper-level management. This role is ideal for a skilled, dog-savvy professional who is passionate about canine behavior and development. You will blend hands-on training with attentive daycare supervision to ensure every dog in our care is safe, enriched, and growing into their best self. As the Daycare Yard Attendant/Dog Trainer, you will be responsible for: Design and implement individualized basic obedience and manners training programs for resident dogs using positive reinforcement techniques Conduct structured training sessions covering foundational skills including sit, stay, recall, leash manners, and gate etiquette Assess each dog's temperament, skill level, and behavioral needs upon enrollment and provide ongoing evaluations Supervise and actively engage with dogs during daycare, monitoring play dynamics and intervening to redirect unsafe or inappropriate behavior Pick up dogs from resident apartments and walk small groups of up to 3 dogs on leash, reinforcing leash manners throughout Perform gate training with dogs to build safe and consistent habits for all resident pups Clean and inspect dogs daily for injuries, ticks, foxtails, and other health concerns, reporting findings promptly Pick up all dog waste immediately to maintain a clean and sanitary daycare yard and dog park Perform daily cleaning tasks throughout the daycare yard and facility Transport pets to and from Dane Park Daycare to resident apartment units Communicate daily with residents regarding their dog's training progress, behavior observations, and personalized recommendations Leave detailed daily report cards for clients, highlighting training milestones and behavioral notes Report daily and weekly to supervisor on individual dog progress and any concerns Collaborate with onsite and third-party service providers — including Dog Walkers, Groomers, Veterinarians, and property management — to ensure continuity of care and training consistency Facilitate, plan, and support onsite resident dog-focused events, including training demonstrations and educational workshops Assist residents with booking Fidus services and referral services as needed Answer basic pet health and behavior questions and offer informed recommendations Skills:
Demonstrated knowledge of canine behavior, body language, and positive reinforcement training methods is essential As a Dane Park Fidus team member, you must be extremely reliable, trustworthy, and self-managed A true passion for animals and a commitment to professional growth in the pet industry is key, as we invest heavily in employee training and certifications Strong communication and customer service skills are vital to deliver a 5-star, professional client experience Must be a team player and dependable — dogs rely on consistency for training and growth Must possess strong situational awareness and the ability to maintain control under pressure to keep dogs and humans safe at all times Visionary qualities such as openness to new ideas and adaptability to evolving methods are highly valued Requirements and Experience:
1-2 years of professional dog training experience required ; certification through a recognized organization (CPDT-KA, KPA-CTP, or equivalent) strongly preferred Professional dog handling experience required 2 or more years of customer service experience preferred 4-year BA/BS degree or equivalent preferred; coursework or certifications in animal behavior, zoology, or a related field a plus Desire to grow in pet-related professions such as Dog Training, Dog Walking, Veterinary, Grooming, and/or Business Management Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation for occasional offsite work Must be able to pass a background check What Sets Us Apart:
