In this energetic role, you will serve as a knowledgeable guide, helping connect the right pet with the right customer, and meet the needs of both. This is a very rewarding and emotional based sales role - prior sales experience is required. This role also entails helping customers select the best products, services, and care options for their beloved animals. Your enthusiasm and expertise will foster a welcoming environment that promotes pet well-being and owner confidence. Duties Pet Counselors are dedicated to matching the right pet with the right customer and meeting the needs of both. Provides top-notch customer service. Educates customers on every pet's basic needs. Educates customers on the value of Petland pets (5-Step Sale, 4 Basic Needs, etc.) and the programs Petland offers customers to provide the best customer experience and peace of mind. Maintains excellent animal husbandry for the pets by performing opening, daily and closing procedures and assisting in maintaining a clean, organized and safe store environment. Assists in Community Service projects in and out of the store as needed. Assists Animal Care Technicians with any additional animal care as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned by management. Qualifications Prior experience in a fast paced, goal oriented and commission based sales environment will elevate you in your role at Petland. Hands-on experience with pet grooming, pet sitting, training or kennel work enhances your suitability for this role. Strong animal handling skills with the ability to safely restrain dogs and other pets during procedures. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with customers. Consistent ongoing education on dog breeds and veterianary knowledge will define your credibility in this role. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary (e.g., lifting pets or supplies) and stand or walk for extended periods.
