Van Zandt Veterinary Hospital is a compassionate and client-focused veterinary practice dedicated to providing high-quality care to our patients. We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Kennel Technician to join our team.
Position Summary:
The Kennel Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the health, comfort, and cleanliness of the animals in our care. This individual must have a genuine love for animals, strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently.
Key Responsibilities:
Walk dogs regularly and ensure they receive appropriate exercise and enrichment. Bathe dogs and cats as needed, ensuring safe and gentle handling. Feed animals according to specific dietary needs and schedules. Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas, including kennels, runs, and play yards. Monitor animal behavior and report any signs of illness or distress to veterinary staff. Provide compassionate, gentle handling of all animals. Maintain proper sanitation protocols to prevent the spread of disease. Assist in maintaining inventory of food, cleaning supplies, and other kennel necessities. Interact courteously and professionally with clients, providing excellent customer service at all times. Follow detailed instructions and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in animal care preferred, but not required. Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks. Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Comfortable working with dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Work Environment:
This position involves working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Safety and cleanliness are top priorities.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$11.00 - $12.50 per hour
