Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Dog Trainer and become a vital part of enhancing the lives of dogs and their owners! In this energetic role, you will utilize your expertise in dog training, animal handling, and pet care to develop customized training programs that promote positive behaviors and strengthen the bond between pets and their families. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the community while honing your skills in animal behavior and care. Duties Work with our training director to implement effective training programs tailored to individual dogs' needs, including obedience, behavioral modification, socialization, fitness, detection, and other engagement activities. Handle dogs safely using proper restraint and handling techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff Assess each dog's temperament, health status, and training progress to adjust methods accordingly Provide pet owners with guidance on at-home training, behavior management, grooming, and pet care best practices Opportunities for in-home boarding for clients whose pets have been through our training program. Engage in heavy lifting when necessary for transporting or managing large or heavy dogs. Qualifications Proven experience in dog training or dog handling/walking with a strong understanding of canine behavior principles Veterinary experience or background as a veterinary technician or assistant is highly desirable, but not required. Skilled in animal handling, restraint techniques, and pet care procedures Excellent customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners and team members Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting and long periods of standing or walking.
