Job Description:
Are You Ready to Be a Dog's Best Friend? We're looking for passionate individuals to join our team of Dog Trainers! Whether you're just starting your career working with dogs or looking to advance your skills in training and behavior, this position offers a clear path for growth. At Train Walk Poop, we're not just about caring for dogs, we're about transforming their lives. We don't settle for basic care; our mission is to help dogs thrive socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. This role is your chance to be part of a team that's setting a new standard in dog training and care.
Your Role:
As an entry-level Dog Trainer, you'll be the foundation of our team, learning the essential skills needed to help dogs succeed. This isn't your average kennel job, it's the start of a career in professional dog training. Here's what you'll do: Social Training (60% of your time): Manage group play sessions, helping dogs progress from on-leash to drag-leash to off-leash interactions. You'll ensure safety while reinforcing proper behaviors and supporting each dog's development. Cleaning & Maintenance (20%): Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for the dogs in our care. Side Tasks (20%): Assist with meals, medications, and other daily tasks essential to dog care. As you grow into your role, you'll take on deluxe training exercises and begin more advanced training with dogs.
Levels of Growth:
We believe in rewarding hard work and growth. Your journey as a Dog Trainer includes 6 levels, each with increasing responsibilities, advanced skills, and pay raises: Onboarding and Initial Training Phase When you join our team, you'll start with a two-week onboarding phase designed to ease you into the role and help you get familiar with our operations.
During this time:
You'll spend more time on essential tasks like cleaning , assisting with daily routines, and supporting our team with things like meal prep, organizing supplies, and maintaining a clean environment for the dogs. You'll also begin your self-paced training , spending about an hour a day learning the basics of our methods and processes. We view this phase as both a meaningful introduction and a valuable reminder that even the best dog trainers in the world clean up after their dogs. Training dogs always includes caring for their environment. By starting here, every team member builds a foundation of responsibility, teamwork, and pride in keeping our facility safe, clean, and welcoming for every dog who walks through our doors.
Training Journey:
Level 1: Social Trainer
  • Focus on training dogs to safely socialize by making good decisions on and off leash. Level 2: Deluxe Trainer
  • Add Deluxe sessions and basic training exercises with dogs. Level 3: Foster Trainer
  • Work with foster dogs, honing your skills with more challenging cases. Level 4: Trainer Helper
  • Assist with customer dogs, shadow advanced trainers, and refine your skills. Level 5: Full Trainer
  • Manage your own training schedule with customer dogs. Level 6: Head Trainer
  • Lead the team, mentor trainers, and handle our most challenging dogs.
Depending on your performance, you could reach a new level every 3-6 months. Each level has written and practical tests to guide your progression.
What We're Looking For:
A passion for working with dogs and helping them thrive. Confidence in handling both big and small dogs, including those with behavioral challenges. A strong work ethic with attention to detail, especially in completing daily tasks. A willingness to learn and grow within our structured training system. Prior experience or volunteer work with dogs is required.
What You'll Get:
Starting Pay:
$14/hour, with raises tied to each level you achieve.
Benefits:
Dental, vision, life, and short-term disability insurance after 2 months of employment.
Paid Time Off:
Guaranteed after your first 90 days.
Professional Growth:
A clear, structured path to grow into advanced training roles, with support from our team every step of the way.
Work-Life Balance:
A schedule that gives you 3 days off most weeks!
Your Schedule:
Monday
  • Friday from 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM We operate 365 days a year to ensure our dogs receive the best care possible.
Team members will be scheduled on some holidays, but shifts are rotated to keep the workload fair and balanced across the staff. What You Need to
Know:
This job is physically demanding. Expect long hours on your feet, cleaning on your knees, strong dogs pulling you, lifting up to 75 pounds, and working in a fast-paced environment. If you are only comfortable with positive reinforcement-only methods , this position is not for you. Our methods focus on building confidence, safety, and lasting behavior changes. All new hires must pass a 2-week probationary period before being offered a permanent position. How to
