  • Contract we are seeking a dependable, animal-loving Dog Handler to help create exceptional photography experiences for clients and their pets.
This role involves assisting with dog handling during portrait sessions, maintaining the dog's attention for the camera, supporting basic obedience cues, and ensuring a safe, stress-free environment for both pets and their families. The ideal candidate has experience working with dogs, understands canine behavior, and enjoys helping create beautiful portrait artwork. Responsibilities Assist with handling dogs during portrait sessions. Use positive reinforcement techniques to maintain attention and desired poses. Help position and redirect dogs for photographs. Support basic obedience commands including sit, stay, down, come, and place. Monitor canine stress signals and adjust handling techniques accordingly. Ensure the safety and comfort of all animals during sessions. Assist with treats, toys, noise-makers, and other attention-getting tools. Help prepare and clean session areas before and after appointments. Work collaboratively with the photographer to achieve desired images. Communicate professionally with clients and their pets. Qualifications Experience working with dogs in a professional or volunteer setting. Basic understanding of canine behavior and body language. Comfortable handling dogs of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments. Ability to remain calm and patient in a fast-paced environment. Reliable transportation and punctuality. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout portrait sessions. Strong customer service skills. Preferred Qualifications Dog training experience. Veterinary, grooming, daycare, boarding, rescue, or kennel experience. Experience working with reactive, shy, or high-energy dogs. Compensation Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
