We are looking for action oriented, friendly and hard working dog lovers to join our growing team. Applicants with personal but no professional animal experience are also encouraged to apply. Bay View Bark has full time (typically 33-40 hours per week) and part time (typically 24-32 hours per week) Dog Handler positions available. All positions require some daytime, evening, holiday and weekend year-round availability. This is not a seasonal position. Applicants with flexible availability are preferred. The average employee is scheduled for 1-2 evening shifts as part of the total shifts scheduled in a week in and 1-2 weekend shifts per month as part of the total shifts scheduled in a month. Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of hiring. No applicants under 18 years of age will be considered.
Compensation:
Starting pay is based on experience, applicants with professional experience in dog handling/animal care may start at the higher starting pay range. Starts at $13.00-$15.00/hr depending on experience. Shift Pay Premiums (extra hourly pay) are paid for evenings, weekend, and trainer shifts. Time and a half pay is paid for Holidays. Overtime time and a half pay for over 40 hours worked in a single calendar week (Sunday-Saturday). Employees that successfully complete a 2 month probationary period typically earn a $0.25 to $0.50/hr increase at that time. Additional merit-based pay increases are provided as employees become more experienced and employees are reviewed every 6 months. New team members will be working along side our veteran crew while supervising dog play groups, providing obedience and manners training, and keeping the facility clean. We are willing to train new employees in all aspects of their duties.All applicants must:
Be available to work a minimum of 24 hours per week year-round Have good communication skills Possess the ability to be able to think on your feet Make decisions/take action quickly based on constant intake and accurate processing and interpretation of visual and auditory input Reliably follow verbal and written directions Enjoy interacting with dogs of all breeds and sizes Have a curiosity or experience working with dogs and reading basic dog body language Be comfortable learning to work with groups of 10-25 dogs at a time Consistently care for all dogs with compassion while prioritizing health and safety Be okay with cleaning up after dog messes routinely throughout the day and evening Be excited to learn and perform positive, reward based training methods Have stamina to keep up in a fast paced environment Plan for working outdoors in all kinds of weather year round Be able to stand/walk for long periods of time Be able to walk quickly and run when necessary Be able to lift up to 50 lbs, physically manage large breed dogs, bend, crouch, climb stairs and crawl on a regular basis Be capable of regular cleaning activities: mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing and more Be 18 years of age or olderAvailable Benefits:
