Cosmetology Student Salon Assistant / Front Desk One Aveda Salon is looking for a Friday Salon Assistant who is currently enrolled in cosmetology school and interested in growing into a future stylist role on our salon floor. We love hiring assistants who are eager to learn, passionate about the beauty industry, and excited to receive hands-on training in a real salon environment while attending school. This position is ideal for someone who wants to build their skills, observe experienced stylists, and grow with our team. Schedule This position is currently Fridays from 9:30am-6:00pm . Additional days may become available as season picks up in November, mainly Saturdays and possibly Wednesdays , depending on availability and salon needs. Pay Salon Assistant pay starts at $15 per hour . This position will also be trained as a backup front desk team member. When working a front desk shift, pay is $17 per hour plus 10% commission on walk-in retail sales . Requirements Applicants must be currently enrolled in cosmetology school. Must already know how to shampoo and blow dry . Main Responsibilities Salon assistant duties include: Sweeping and keeping the salon floor clean Laundry and towel support Helping maintain a clean, organized salon environment Supporting the owner, Sue, throughout the day Observing, learning, asking questions, and stepping in to help when needed Assisting the rest of the salon team as needed Shampooing and blow drying guests when appropriate Staying engaged and focused during salon education opportunities Front Desk Training This role will also include training as a backup front desk team member.

Front desk responsibilities may include:

Learning the salon booking system Checking guests in and out Greeting guests in a friendly and professional manner Helping with scheduling and guest communication Learning the Aveda product line Educating guests on Aveda products Supporting retail sales and guest experience What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is: Reliable and punctual Friendly and professional Self-motivated Able to multitask Open to constructive feedback Excited to learn Comfortable asking questions Interested in growing into a stylist role A true team player Growth Opportunity Our goal is to train assistants to eventually become stylists on our floor.
