Licensed Independent Hairdresser Shrewsbury Rehabilitation and Nursing at Southgate Shrewsbury, MA Job Details Full-time 20 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Safety regulations Service scheduling In-person customer service Employee relationship building Resident rapport building Infection control regulations Full Job Description The Licensed Independent Hairdresser provides professional hair care services to nursing home residents in a compassionate, respectful, and safe manner. The Hairdresser is responsible for maintaining a welcoming salon environment while promoting residents' dignity, self-esteem, and overall well-being through quality grooming services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide hair cutting, styling, shampooing, setting, and basic grooming services to residents. Consult with residents regarding their preferred hairstyles and grooming needs. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area in accordance with state regulations and infection control guidelines. Properly disinfect and store all equipment and tools after each use. Schedule appointments and maintain service records as needed. Interact courteously and professionally with residents, family members, and facility staff. Accommodate residents with physical, cognitive, or mobility limitations. Report any resident concerns or observations to appropriate nursing staff. Maintain an active cosmetology or hairdresser license as required by state law. Carry and maintain any required professional liability insurance.
Qualifications:
Current and valid Hairdresser/Cosmetology License in the State of Massachusetts. Previous experience working with elderly populations preferred. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage appointment scheduling. Knowledge of infection control and sanitation procedures. Ability to establish positive relationships with residents and staff.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry salon equipment and supplies as needed. Ability to assist residents safely during salon services.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed within a nursing home salon or designated grooming area. Must adhere to all facility policies regarding resident safety, confidentiality, and infection control.
Independent Contractor Status:
This position is classified as an Independent Contractor. The Hairdresser is responsible for all applicable taxes, licenses, insurance, and business-related expenses associated with providing services. Benefits to
