Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
This individual will provide non-medical companion care to my wife at our residence and outside of the residence as needed. Individuals must be able to deal maturely with the demands of the job and keep the resident information confidential. This individual will also perform homemaking duties as listed below. The individual must be committed to the needs of the residents and possess the desire to assist the residents to maximize their independence and comfort.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required. Follow the established schedule to provide general attention to the non-medical needs of the residents; assist with instrumental activities of daily living; provide companionship to the resident, including acting as a conversationalist and friend; Conduct housekeeping duties such as laundry and linen service, to include washing, ironing, and folding clothes, cleaning of the home areas including the floors, kitchen and bathrooms; Prepare and serve meals and snacks as needed; Provide shopping service to the resident(s) to include grocery and clothes shopping; Provide incidental transportation for the resident(s), which can include doctor appointments, and visits to friends, family members, and stores; Assistance and planning of the resident's recreational activities and events; Remain in the resident vicinity at all times during shift and report any unusual incidents and act quickly in cases of emergency.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty in a quality manner. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, and educational experience required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or, one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Experience with housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary recommendations
LICENSURE
Possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license Legally authorized to work in the United States
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Proficient in reading and understanding English in short instructions, correspondence, and memos Ability to effectively communicate in English through written and verbal language
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
The primary place of work is our residence. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is frequently required to use hands or fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment is in a resident's home with home pets including cats and a dog.
SCREENING
Applicants will be required to submit for a drug and alcohol screening as well as a criminal background check pursuant to the rules of the state of Florida.
BENEFITS
This position comes with a take-home car for the use of the caregiver/ homemaker to travel to and from the residence from their home, running errands for the residents and transporting the resident to appointments. Other benefits include access to a healthcare plan, paid holidays and 401-K plan.
WORK HOURS
This position is a full-time position. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
