Job Summary:
The primary function is to assist client and family in their place of residence; to assist in providing a safe clean environment, work cooperatively with patient and family and share observations and problems with the supervisor.
Essential Functions:
Promote positive, supportive, and respectful communication to patient/family and other employees. Maintains patient confidentiality. Ensures that all health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is strictly adhered to. Maintain professionalism in the patients home, in the office and in the community. Maintain a good attitude, accept and adapt to each new assigned job willingly. Provide an environment which promotes respect for patient, privacy and property. Provides light housekeeping, laundry services, errands, assists with meal preparation, per plan of care. Provide necessary skills to appropriately report changes to ensure continuity of care. Practice accepted infection control principals. Provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for the patient. Provide skills necessary to perform assigned functions according to agency policies. Contribute to the management and efficient operation of the agency and demonstrate effective time management skills. Demonstrate commitment, professional growth , and competency by attending required in-services. Promote the agency philosophy and administrative policies to ensure quality of care. Attend in-services as scheduled.
MAY NOT:
Perform any personal care or skilled nursing in which a license to practice is required. Reconcile bank statements, sign checks or use any form of the client's credit.
Knowledge / Skills
/
Abilities:
Must be able to read and write in English and follow written and verbal instructions in English effectively. Demonstrates interest in the welfare of the ill and elderly. Competent to perform tasks assigned by supervisor. Good communication skills Dependable to attend work as scheduled.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Education:
Age of majority in the state; High school diploma preferred.
Experience:
One year of experience in providing services to individuals needing homemaker/companion assistance, is preferred. License /
Certification:
current driver's license and proof of auto liability
Environmental Conditions:
Works in patient's home in various conditions, possible exposure to blood and body fluids and infectious diseases. Ability to work flexible schedule, ability to travel locally, some exposure to unpleasant weather. Moderate noise level; tasks may involve moderate stress and emotional demands.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged standing and walking required. Ability to move up to 50 lbs. and move patients. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines, to identify patient needs, to make quick decisions and resource acquisition; meet patient/family psychosocial needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to utilize durable medical equipment in the home.
