Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION
American Stage Theatre Company's Emerging Artists Fellowship Program is a paid program for early-career arts administrators and theatre production practitioners. Participants are given practical learning experiences and independent and collective projects, all while working as a part of a team with American Stage staff and guest artists. The Costume and Wardrobe Fellow receives a practical overview of theatrical costume production. This role is responsible for helping to prepare, maintain,run, and strike costume elements for American Stage productions. The wardrobe fellow will assist the costume shop manager with day to day tasks (costume wigs/hair, and makeup), administrative tasks (pre-production planning, production meetings, tracking paperwork, office and storage organization), and will run wardrobe crew for shows as assigned. This fellow may be called upon to participate in many aspects of the department, so flexibility and adaptability are important. Proficient sewing and alteration skills are required. Previous experience in a theatre costume shop or a related area (fashion, etc.) is preferred. Participation with the following tasks throughout the production process will include, but are not limited to: costume construction alterations and repairs organization of research and shop paperwork pulling, shopping, and tracking of returns of costume pieces and accessories costume fittings tracking and organization of costumes wigs/hair, and stage makeup costume crafts

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must: Be at least 18 years old by the start of the program BFA/BA or comparable experience in area of application Be able to commit to a season long program Reside in, or be able to relocate to, St. Petersburg or the Tampa Bay Area, housing is not included at this time. COMPENSATION
Pay:
$635/week stipend based on 35-40 hours of work per week (Housing is not included at this time)
