Job Roles:
Work as a collaborative member of the Costume Shop and Production Department to execute the artistic vision of each show and maintain the integrity of the costume design throughout the run of the production. Responsibilities Work as a member of costume crews for all technical rehearsals & performances of professional company shows, including weekends and occasional holidays. Maintain the appearance and integrity of all aspects of costumes, hair, wigs and makeup for BalletMet company productions while in the theater, ensuring that the designer's vision remains intact. Work along with Wardrobe Coordinator to organize and pack costumes for shipment to and from the theater, and to clean and restock costumes after the close of each production. Execute and/or supervise the cleaning, organizing, and repairing of all costume pieces during the run of each production. Work with Costume Shop Staff on building and altering costumes as assigned. Assist with the maintaining of costume storage and processing of costume rentals. Provide wardrobe assistance for other BalletMet events as assigned. Take part in maintaining a healthy and safe work environment. Maintain confidentiality. Contribute to the overall success of BalletMet by maintaining productive and professional relationship with staff, company members, guest artists and the public. Approach and carry out tasks as assigned with a positive attitude. Other duties as assigned. Qualities and Attributes Demonstrate thorough knowledge of hand and machine sewing. Knowledge of laundering and care of theatrical costumes. Experience working as a member of wardrobe crew for theatrical productions. Previous work with dance costuming is preferred but not required. Background in makeup, wig application, and wig maintenance preferred but not required. Ability to demonstrate poise and professionalism in high pressure and/or time sensitive situations. Use of Microsoft and Google software suites. Ability to stand/perform duties for prolonged periods, including climbing stairs. Ability to lift and carry 40lbs.
