JOB SUMMARY
Perform required tasks to prepare the body for proper cremation. Crematory Operators attend to the sanitation, presentation and preservation of deceased persons, and the maintenance of funeral service plans and facilities. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
To cremate to a high quality avoiding any cremation failure and to ensure the preparation of the deceased is peaceful and to the satisfaction of the family. To provide consistently high standards of service, experience, products, and facilities. Ensuring the professional service the company provides is efficient and accurate, with attention to details of utmost importance. Maintain records of personal effects. Ensure the body is properly identified and placed with an identification (ID) tag. Adhere to all health and sanitation legal requirements. Perform preservation procedures to delay the decomposition of the deceased. Perform cremations, to include placing the remains in the cremation container. General cleaning and building and section maintenance. Assisting with the management of stock levels, and annual stock-take as required. Assisting funeral directors at funeral services, with integrity, respect, and professionalism. Attendance at company-based functions as and when required, and attendance at staff and management meetings as directed. Support of personal professional development and on-going training. Perform regular maintenance on crematorium to ensure a quality facility. Interact with families of the deceased with compassion and professionalism. Monitor cremation operations to ensure that they comply with applicable policies, regulations, and laws. Complete and maintain records such as state required documents, tracking documents, or product inventories. Maintain operational records. Prepare reports related to compliance matters. Attend community events to promote funeral home services and/or build community relationships. Establish interpersonal business relationships to facilitate work activities. Crematory Operator Certification (6 months to obtain certification), along with the ability to maintain the certification annually through continued education. High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous funeral service, mortuary, healthcare, transportation, or related experience, preferred. Knowledge of health issues relating to handling of deceased people. Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, biology, and chemistry. Knowledge of various religious ceremonies, and differences in cultural and religious beliefs about the human body. Valid driver's license with an excellent motor vehicle record that will be maintained. SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to work effectively in a challenging environment while managing multiple priorities. Must have a tidy appearance and wear the required uniform, as this position transports decedants. Must possess and maintain a personal cell phone or mobile device capable of receiving calls, text messages, e-mail, scheduling applications, and other company required communications. Crematory Operators require excellent physical health and good manual dexterity. They must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and move deceased persons, caskets, equipment, and supplies safely, with or without assistance. Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting throughout the day should be expected. They will be exposed to temperature extremes, including refrigerated environments and elevated temperatures associated with crematory operations. They will be expected to operate company vehicles safely under various weather and road conditions. WORKING CONDITIONS/SCHEDULE
The ability to tolerate stress and work long, irregular hours is important. The Company operates a 24-hour, 7 day a week operation. In addition, this position will be on a schedule to work every third weekend to serve our families' needs. Perform required tasks to prepare the body for proper cremation.
