As a Funeral Services Assistant, you'll play an important role in helping families experience meaningful, well-organized services while supporting our funeral directors and staff in the daily operation of the funeral home. Attendance at scheduled staff meetings and adherence to company policies, procedures, and our commitment to compassionate service are expected. Essential Responsibilities Prepare chapels, visitation rooms, and service areas by arranging flowers, seating, caskets, urns, photographs, memorial displays, and personal keepsakes. Welcome families, guests, clergy, and vendors with warmth, professionalism, and compassion. Assist families throughout visitations, memorials, funerals, and graveside services, ensuring their needs are met with care and respect. Answer incoming telephone calls, provide general information regarding funeral and cremation services, and direct inquiries appropriately. Complete and organize service-related paperwork, cremation documentation, maintenance records, and other administrative tasks. Perform general office duties, including operating computers, multi-line phone systems, printers, scanners, and other office equipment. Transport flowers, paperwork, supplies, and other items as needed. Drive company vehicles for removals, funeral services, family transportation, and other business-related purposes. Assist with the respectful transfer, dressing, and casketing of the deceased, and support crematory operations when permitted by law and company policy. Serve as an usher, assist with parking, and provide guest assistance during services. Ensure hospitality areas are prepared and maintained where applicable. Help maintain the cleanliness and professional appearance of the funeral home, company vehicles, and equipment. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission of Slone & Co. Funeral Directors. Qualifications Education High school diploma or GED required. Experience Customer service, hospitality, healthcare, or funeral service experience is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office and general computer applications is beneficial. Training will be provided for the right candidate. Licenses Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities A compassionate heart and genuine desire to serve others. Professional appearance and strong work ethic. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple responsibilities. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Comfortable working both independently and as part of a close-knit team.

Ability to lift, move, and assist with equipment and the care of the deceased as permitted by law. Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed. Why Slone & Co.?
