Job Description

Position Summary:
Serving the greater Columbus community for nearly 100 years we know that the work we do matters. As a progressive family-owned funeral home we are looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented individual to join our team either as a Dual Licensed Individual in the State of Ohio or as an Apprentice to be a Dual Licensed Individual for a licensed Funeral Director We're hoping to welcome someone who truly cares about people, takes pride in their work, and wants to be part of a supportive, close-knit team. We currently have four locations, serving several communities in and around Columbus, Ohio area. You will be involved in various aspects of funeral service and will be expected to service a very diverse community. You must be able to communicate effectively; manage relationships with those you serve and work with while also handling the pressures of managing details within our ever-changing profession.
Key Responsibilities:
Family Care:
Meet with families, listen to their stories, and help them create meaningful services that honor their loved ones. Coordinate with third parties to carry out selected services with attention to detail.
Embalming & Preparation:
Perform embalming, dressing, cosmetics, and casketing of the deceased with the highest standard of professionalism.
Funeral Direction:
Prepare, coordinate and carryout visitations, funeral/memorial services, and graveside services. Including both pre and post event preparation and cleaning.
Administrative Compliance:
Follow administrative policies and procedures related to the deceased, and ensure that all required paperwork (death certificates, permits, authorizations, etc) are completed accurately and in a timely manner
Phone Candor:
Professionally handle phone calls with attention to detail and ability to provide information to callers.
Facility Maintenance:

Graystone Training & Development and Selected Independent Funeral Homes Qualifications Licensure:
Either possess a valid Ohio Dual License (Funeral Director and Embalmer) in good standing with the Ohio Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers OR have all the pre-requisites to start your apprenticeship as a Daul License Funeral Director and Embalmer.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited Mortuary Science program and have a Bachelors Degree.
Experience:
Experience in funeral directing and embalming is preferred.
Skills:
Great organizational and interpersonal skills. Proficient in computer systems. Professional written and verbal communication skills. Detail oriented yet able to multitask.
Physical Ability:
Able to lift 75+ lbs, ability to push/pull with assistance objects up to approximately 500 pounds. Ability to assist in lifting/moving deceased persons and/or caskets or other containers.
Requirements:
Clean driving record and valid Ohio driver's license.
