Job Summary Join our compassionate team as a Funeral Home Director / Embalmer, where you will play a vital role in honoring lives and supporting families during their most difficult moments. This dynamic position combines the artistry of embalming with the leadership of funeral directing, ensuring each service is handled with dignity, professionalism, and heartfelt care. You will oversee all aspects of funeral arrangements, embalming procedures, and customer service, creating meaningful experiences that celebrate loved ones' lives. Your expertise will help families find comfort and closure while maintaining the highest standards of sanitation, safety, and professionalism. Duties Perform embalming and restorative arts procedures to prepare bodies for viewings and funerals, ensuring respectful presentation. Lead funeral planning meetings with families to coordinate service details, transportation, and memorial arrangements. Manage the setup and presentation of funeral services, including casketing, dressing, cosmetology, and floral arrangements. Provide bereavement support and compassionate guidance to grieving families throughout the entire process. Ensure all sanitation and safety protocols are strictly followed during embalming, body handling, and facility maintenance. Conduct dissection when necessary for anatomical or educational purposes with precision and respect. Oversee event planning for memorial services, visitations, and community outreach activities to foster connection and support. Skills Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy to perform embalming effectively and safely. Excellent customer service skills with an empathetic approach to supporting grieving families. Proven experience in funeral directing with the ability to manage multiple arrangements efficiently. Skilled in event planning to coordinate services that meet families' wishes while adhering to legal requirements. Knowledge of sanitation practices essential for maintaining a clean and safe environment in a funeral home setting. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling caskets or body containers. Competence in sales techniques to assist families in selecting appropriate memorial products or services. Experience providing bereavement support to help families navigate their grief journey effectively.
