Job Description

Overview Join our compassionate team as a Embalmer and Funeral Director, where you will play a vital role in guiding families through one of life's most profound moments. This dynamic position combines the artistry of embalming and funeral directing with the heartfelt support needed to help families find comfort and closure. You will oversee funeral arrangements, coordinate services, provide empathetic bereavement support, preparing the decedents remains and ensuring every detail reflects dignity and respect. Your expertise will help create meaningful memorial experiences while managing essential operational tasks with professionalism and care. Responsibilities Coordinate aspects of funeral services, including planning, logistics, embalming and execution to ensure seamless ceremonies. Provide compassionate bereavement support to grieving families, offering guidance and emotional comfort throughout their journey. Manage the preparation of deceased individuals, including sanitation, cosmetology, dissection, and physiology-related procedures to ensure respectful presentation. Oversee heavy lifting and proper handling of remains in accordance with safety protocols and sanitation standards. Conduct detailed consultations with families to understand their wishes, explain service options, and assist with sales of memorial products and services. Organize and oversee event planning for funerals, memorials, and related gatherings to create respectful and personalized experiences. Maintain meticulous records of all arrangements, legal documentation, and service details while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. With a cemetery on site, you will also need to familiarise yourself with showing families where plots are specifically located and general knowledge of the cemetery. Requirements Proven experience in funeral directing, embalming or related fields such as mortuary science or anatomy studies. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, sanitation practices, and cosmetology related to mortuary care. Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate empathetically during sensitive situations. Ability to perform embalming procedures accurately when required for preparation purposes. Physical stamina for heavy lifting and long periods of standing or walking during service preparations. Experience in event planning to coordinate memorial services effectively. Knowledge of sales techniques to assist families in selecting appropriate memorial products and services. Certification or licensing as required by local regulations for funeral directors or morticians is required.
