Responsibilities Oversee daily funeral home operations, including staffing, workflow management, and service delivery Meet with families to guide them through arrangements with empathy, clarity, and professionalism Coordinate, plan, and conduct funeral, memorial, and graveside services that honor each family's wishes Ensure full compliance with all state, local, and company regulations, including health and sanitation standards Manage scheduling, inventory, and facility readiness to maintain a seamless, high‑quality environment Provide compassionate bereavement support, offering guidance and emotional assistance throughout the process Lead, mentor, and support staff to foster a high‑performance, service‑focused culture Oversee preparation and presentation of decedents, ensuring respectful cosmetology, sanitation, and handling procedures Supervise safe transportation, transfer, and heavy lifting of remains using proper safety protocols Support families in selecting services and merchandise, presenting options with a compassionate, consultative approach Plan and coordinate special services or memorial events, ensuring every detail aligns with family expectations and organizational standards Collaborate with leadership on operational improvements, community engagement, and long‑term growth initiatives Qualifications Active Funeral Director license is required ; dual licensure as an Embalmer is strongly preferred Proven experience in funeral directing or management within a funeral home environment Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and embalming principles related to body preparation Ability to perform cosmetology, restorative work, dissection, and sanitation procedures with accuracy and respect Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to support families empathetically during difficult moments Experience planning and coordinating meaningful funeral and memorial services Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting, transfers, and extended periods on your feet Knowledge of bereavement support practices to assist grieving families effectively Compassionate, consultative sales skills to guide families through service and merchandise options while maintaining a caring, professional approach Growth opportunities are available and may be accelerated based on experience and performance.
