This role combines funeral service responsibilities with operational leadership, team support, and administrative oversight.
Work Location:
Gallup, NM Key Responsibilities Provide funeral arrangement conferences and guide families through service options Coordinate and oversee funeral, memorial, graveside, and cremation services Ensure all required permits and documentation are completed accurately and timely Maintain compliance with New Mexico licensing requirements, state regulations, and company procedures Manage daily chapel operations, staff scheduling, and service coverage Support and lead team members with a focus on professionalism, accountability, and service excellence Communicate with clergy, cemeteries, medical examiners, hospitals, and third-party vendors Handle decedent transfers and care coordination as needed Maintain accurate case files, records, and reporting Respond to families with urgency, empathy, and clear communication Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable) Current New Mexico Funeral Service Practitioner license (or ability to obtain/transfer quickly, if applicable) Minimum 3-5 years experience in funeral service operations (management experience strongly preferred) Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage multiple services/cases simultaneously Strong communication and customer service skills High attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive situations professionally Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends and on-call rotation as needed Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Preferred Qualifications Experience managing chapel operations, staff performance, and scheduling Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Navajo) is a plus Experience with funeral home management systems and administrative reporting Compensation & Benefits Competitive compensation based on experience and licensing Benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, PTO, and additional offerings (where applicable) Equal Opportunity Employer We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other protected status under applicable law.
