Job Description

The Sonnenalp is seeking a Laundry Manager to oversee all aspects of our Laundry operations. This role is responsible for managing daily workflow, maintaining quality and cleanliness standards, ensuring proper care of linens, and leading a team focused on efficiency and service excellence. We are looking for a proactive leader with strong organizational skills and a commitment to high standards.
Wage :
$65,000 - $75,000/year

Hiring will occur on a rolling basis. Applications will be accepted until May1st or until the positions are filled. Primary Purpose of Position Manage and oversee the Laundry and Uniform operation. Ensure that an adequate supply of clean fresh linen is routinely provided to all Food & Beverage outlets, Hotel Rooms Division, One Willow Bridge Road, and Balata Restaurant. Ensure an organized and efficient operation while minimizing loss. Supervise, hire and train the laundry staff. Responsible for the upkeep of all uniforms, inventory and purchasing of property-wide uniforms and linens. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Oversee the day to day operations of the laundry employees and department. Oversee safe and effective operation of washing & ironing machines. Ensure consistent workflow to minimize peaks and valleys in production. Receive and sort laundry, operate washers and dryers, treat stains and select all cleaners. Maintain the laundry area by cleaning the machines on a daily basis and ensuring the area is clean and organized. Create and manage staff daily checklists to ensure cleaning and routine maintenance is performed. Manage staffing levels and schedules to ensure that operational needs and financial objectives are met. Interview, hire, train and coach uniform and laundry staff. Ensure all uniform and laundry employees are properly trained and are proficient in their work. Create the weekly schedule and recheck the occupancy throughout the week to ensure appropriate staffing levels. Ensure safety of all staff members through proper training and effective management Assist in chemical and MSDS training for the staff. Ensure staff compliance with all policies, standards, and procedures. Monitor and evaluate performance of staff on an ongoing basis. Invoice and work with accounting to collect payment for various units, to include OWBR and Balata based on linen weigh. Conduct regular uniform and linen inventory and maintain sufficient par of new uniforms and linens. Monitor quality of returned items in order to minimize loss and discard as they become substandard. Be first point of contact for all laundry and chemical vendors. Write loss reports and order supplies as needed. Liaise with uniform dry cleaning company to keep costs down and minimize complaints. Ensure effective management of uniform paperwork and communicate with Human Resources in regard to payroll deductions and reimbursements. Ensure proper uniform fits and request alterations as needed. Monitor, balance levels, and evaluate the laundry chemical usage to minimize waste. Schedule preventative maintenance of laundry equipment. Check equipment daily, do routine maintenance and report any problems or malfunctions to Engineering. Ensure all restaurant linen is delivered before restaurants are open. Ensure timely delivery of guest laundry items. Perform other job related work duties as assigned by management. Education/Experience High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required College Degree preferred Supervisory experience required Previous laundry management experience in an upscale, high occupancy resort preferred Special Skills/Equipment Bi-lingual in Spanish and English highly preferred High level of organizational and planning skills Knowledge of OSHA guidelines Must possess the ability to plan, organize, supervise, inspect and evaluate employee work Essential Physical Requirements Work primarily performed indoors and can be warm at times. Must be able to stand and walk for full duration of shift. Must be able to bend, squat, stretch for 2-3 hours at a time Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull laundry carts weighing up to 140 lbs Heavy machinery must be used with caution.
