Laundry Aide

Apple Rehab Uncasville, a 130-bed skilled nursing center located near Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino, has an opportunity for a part time laundry aide to join our extraordinary team! Job Description:

Collects and/or sorts soiled linen following proper sanitation procedures including keeping contaminated articles separate. Operates all laundry equipment, washes, dries, folds and distributes clean linen and personal clothing. Maintains a clean, orderly work area and department. Assists in maintaining adequate supply of linens for the facility and supplies needed in the department. Inspects linen and removes for review by department head any worn linen which may need to be replaces. Sets up laundry carts or closets with adequate supplies for distribution to the residents. May be required to stay or be called in especially in an emergency. Attends and participates in training and orientation. Attends mandatory inservices as required by the facility. Fosters employee involvement and input in the TQM process. Assists in providing a clean and safe working environment. Understand and uses Universal Precautions, follows established infections control policies and procedures, hazardous communication and all other safety rules including company procedures for reporting accidents/incidents as well as hazardous conditions, and fire and disaster plans. Ensures cleanliness of work environment.

Qualifications:

Ability to walk, bend, lift, push, pull, turn, stoop and stretch. Ability to unload and stock groceries on shelves of various heights and to lift large items up to 50lbs. Ability to write and record data, to read and follow oral and written instructions in English. Ability to remain calm and work efficiently in cases of emergency. Ability to communicate with residents, staff, family members in a professional manner. This position has the potential to become full time.
