Job Description
OVERVIEW
The Laundry Aide provides a variety of laundry duties in maintaining the nursing center in an orderly, sanitary condition and in collecting and laundering of linens, garments, and washables.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Collects, sorts, washes, dries, folds and distributes all laundry items to residents. Presses/irons garments as requested. Labels residents' personal laundry and linens as directed. Cleans dryer filters as necessary. Ensures adequate supply of laundry supplies are in stock. Notifies supervisor when supplies are low. Keeps laundry carts clean and in good working order. Properly stores equipment, tools and supplies. Keeps a log of missing items and returns them when found. Reports any mechanical or equipment needs to supervisor. Reports any questionable resident conditions to supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION /
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum a high school diploma or equivalent 1 or more years' experience in housekeeping/laundry duties in a long-term health care setting
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a health care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the care center. Incumbent may be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment. May experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric, and deceased patients.
