Job Description

Facility Attendant I Clearance requirement:
Citizenship/Clearance Requirement:
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, eligible to obtain and maintain a favorable suitability determination and pass a pre-employment drug screening. Online at: scitechinc/opportunities/ SciTech Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Facility Attendant to provide facility cleaning services for the vivarium (s) and selected laboratories at the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Responsible for inventory monitoring, stocking, and submission of supply requests to supervisor. Provides cagewash operation services as needed. Duties include but are not limited to: Sweep and mop all assigned labs, office areas, hallways, and locker rooms, including floors, walls, ceilings, countertops, and equipment independent of supervision. Use approved chemicals in specified dilutions and approved cleaning tools and equipment. Send and receive laundry and perform weekly uniform inventory. Collect trash from assigned rooms and replace clean trashcan liners. Dispose of bundled trash in appropriate dumpsters/receptacles. Monitor levels of cleaning supplies and requests replenishment as needed. Restocks Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) stations. Thoroughly cleans refrigerators and freezers in the animal care facility. Ensure that all logbooks, checklists, and other records are complete in a timely fashion. Perform all work assignments in accordance with guidelines established by federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. Receive deliveries, organize supply room, and maintain adequate levels of stock. Reports supply and mechanical issues promptly and properly to the supervisor. Work in cagewash as needed to include dump and scrape soiled bedding from caging, wash caging and related equipment using cage washers. Clean and sanitize necropsy and assigned rooms. Prepare, package, and pick up MPW boxes to include dead animals.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.). 1 - 2 years related experience in a maintenance or cleaning environment with at least six months working in a laboratory animal species environment preferred.
Suitability Background Check:
To obtain and maintain suitability background check per contract requirements. Ability to recognize and communicate verbally and in writing, problems requiring the attention of high-level personnel in a timely and appropriate manner.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must regularly lift 50 pounds and move racks and carts with supplies and equipment weighing more than 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, works in high, precarious places and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/ or humid and temporarily hot or cold temperature conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, biohazardous materials / agents, infectious disease, and risk of electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be approved to wear respiratory, eye and hearing protection.
